Pumpkin Time

God Bless my sister Heidi who always insists on the traditions of carving pumpkins.  She came over after work with all of her tools and stencils to carve.  We had enough for everyone so I just started getting each pumpkin open to dig out and everyone took on their roles from there.  Eamon, Liam and Mairin were able to do their own and it was so cool to have them be able to carve their own.  Heidi and I helped everyone and each carved our own.  The triplets as you can see just played with the hollowed out pumpkins, played with the seeds and carried the tools around claiming they were working.  It was a beautiful evening to do it and doing it outside was an even better plus.  I do love doing this stuff once I get started but I always seem to need the push to begin the chaos.

It was a little over an hour later and we were all done and we still had some daylight left.  We kept the seeds for roasting and my dad requested some too so he could plant a field of pumpkins for next year.  Oh dear....I can see it now. grandma and grandpa are going to bring a trailer load of pumpkins down next year...HELP..

Alvin and The Chipmunks

Colin loves hats so he was deemed Alvin, Declan was being stubborn and didnt want to wear anything so he was deemed Theodore and my little Finn loved the glasses so there is my Simon.  We had a Halloween party to attend on Sunday and it was the first time we put on our outfits.  It is so hard to get a good photo so this is what we have for now.  I wish I could take credit for the idea but a girlfriend of mine (Christy) did this with her 3 boys a couple of years ago and she offered to share her tails with me along with the red hat.  She is my crafty friend and makes her costumes every year.  I was able to complete the costumes with a trip to the local salvation army.  You would be amazed by the amount of "bright" turtle necks were available in the ladies section.  They wore the costumes all evening and the party was a success.  We had to take the glasses off of Finn at dinner because it was like he forgot they were on.  We have 3 more dress up events so these costumes are going to get a ton of use.  We are missing the older kids because we all converged to the party location from hockey and playdates.  Gosh what will I do for next year???

My Toothless Wonder Triplet

It was only 9:30am on Saturday morning and I had just poured myself a cup of coffee, cleaned up the kitchen from pancakes and was ready to do the morning chill when it all happened.  Declan came upstairs holding his mouth and he had a handful of blood and was screaming.  I sat him at the kitchen sink and took a look.  I cannot even describe what it looks like to see 2 front teeth just minutes ago and then all of sudden all I can see are nubs.  It was almost like I was looking at something I couldn't figure out.  I am serious when I say that all I could see of his 2 front teeth were tiny nubs up in the gums.  It looked like when you lose a tooth and the next one is popping thru.  I called for Eamon to come upstairs as he was playing with Declan.  I asked Eamon what happened and he said that Declan was playing with a beach ball and it flew out of his hand and he fell and hit the chair.

I had Eamon watch Declan and I went downstairs to look for teeth, see if there was a blood trail and try to make sense of this little event.  I saw a wet mouth mark on the chair (clearly the point of impact) and I felt around and there was no sign of teeth.  I am still confused at this point.  I am still thinking that they must have broken off.  Eamon is crying at this point.  He thinks that it is his fault and he feels terrible.  I told Eamon, "sweetheart I am not mad at you at all, I just need to know what happened and I am a little panicked".  I get Declan a wet rag and he seems to like it on his mouth.  I have David take a look and I think David was more panicked that I was.  He almost got sick to his stomach.  "Call the doctor".  I am so so blessed that we have a family friend who is a pediatric dentist so I just so happened to have their home number.  Fran answers the phone and tells me that every pediatric dentist is in a conference today.  (the story of my life).  She offers to text her hubby, daughter and son-in-law (all ped dentists) and so I wait.  I send a couple of pics and after a couple of back and forth the ruling is...

Do not go to the ER.  We have seen this before.  It looks much worse than it is.  The front teeth did not break off but rather were jammed back up in his mouth.  Come on in this week for an X-Ray and lets make sure there is no damage to the permanent teeth.  It will take about 6 months for the teeth to come back down. (great I have a toothless 2 year old for the next 6 months..family pictures anyone)

We took X-Rays on Monday and yep they were right.  Now we just need to watch and make sure there are no infections and see what happens.  Can you believe that your teeth can go back up in the gums this far and then come back down again?  Only a Mott can try this one out.

Now I have 1 triplet with chipped front teeth...1 triplet with no front teeth and 1 triplet who is bound to do something to his front teeth.  Arggggggg......

BTW...Thank you so much Fran, Elizabeth and Sam for hooking me up on a weekend and making me not sit in an ER for the afternoon.  Thank goodness for Derby Lake friends....

Twins and a Single and a Visit To The Bank

The twins and little Mairin didn't have school today so we made use of our time together and made a trip to the bank.  My mom was in town so she took them to breakfast while I took the triplets to their Friday mom's morning out program.

We got their banks out and we sat at the kitchen table and counted all of our money.  We put the change into rolls and straightened each dollar and organized each pile.  Eamon had a big pile of dollars but only a few rolls of coins.  Liam had a bunch of rolls of coins and fewer dollars.  Mairin had the least amount of money but that didn't bother her a bit.  I had them write down their account numbers, total amount of money and put it in a baggie.  We took everything to the bank and I let them do the rest.  They filled out their own deposit slips and went up to the counter one at a time and made their deposits.  Liam had added wrong so they asked him to fill out another slip to make the correction and he did.  Eamon had a smirk on his face the entire time and Mairin...well Mairin was ready to ask for a job.  It was kind of a fun morning.  The kids asked me to go to Subway so we did.

My mom was here since Wednesday and we had a couple of nice evenings.  I just love sitting in the family room at night and just chatting with my mom.  We (just the 2 of us) are going to Las Vegas at the end of the month for 4 days to see Garth Brooks.  Mom called me several weeks ago and asked if I wanted to go see Garth and I of course said yes.  I asked her when and where and that is when she told me where it was.  Heidi was there in the background sitting on hold with ticket master to book the tickets once she heard me say ok.  It was such a nice surprise.  My sister offered to help David with the kids and David kindly said, "sure go ahead".  Garth is performing his last scheduled concert at the Wynn and we are going to be there.  I don't think I have ever gone somewhere like this with just mom.  It is going to be a great 4 days and I can't wait.

Someday

Someday

I will learn how to knit
I will organize the junk drawers
I will take classes on how to do stained glass
I will begin working out daily
I will get more followers and work on getting my blog busy again
I will wake up at 10am and do nothing all day
I will get all of my photos in order and photoshop them to improve them
I will rekindle so many friendships that I have lost sight of in the past several years
I will take my pictures and videos and make movies out of them
I will sit down and watch "The Godfather" (silly but I have never seen it)
I will start a business
I will get around to cleaning out closets
I will get rid of every pile in my house

But for now I will

Give hugs and kisses everyday
Take the kids everywhere they need to go
Help out with homework
Pack lunches, fix breakfast and dinner for my crew
Make my kids laugh
Love on my husband
Wash all of their clothes
Continue to give time outs when needed
Repeat myself
Go to bed early to be ready for the next day
Worry about each of them
Make sure they have what they need to make it in life
Have date nights with just my hubby

Life does go fast and I guess I still have lots of time to do everything I think about doing..but I wonder if I will end up doing all of these things that I think I want to...when I finally have the time?  I have heard that this time goes fast so sit back and enjoy them while they are small because someday they will grow up.  That being said....Everything else can wait.

I have to go get the triplets up from a nap, get dinner started, take Mairin to swimming, help out with homework and make sure I get out to grab a gallon of milk.

The Triplets Are Almost 3...You Know What That Means

December 17,  2011 and I will have 3 year old triplets.  I know I know it is coming, the dreaded feat of potty training.  I am the one who is dragging her feet.  I decided to dance around the subject on Thursday of this week.  I woke up very ambitious and decided no diapers for the morning.  We had no plans so it was a stay at home type of day.  I took off the diapers and left them with just t shirts, pulled out 3 potty chairs and put them in front of the TV and filled the sipper cups with juice.  I also put the candy jar right in front of them with a lid that they could not unscrew.  I also brought out all of the fun underwear and we all tried on the different pairs.  They sat on their potties and watched Calliou...Elmo...Little Einsteins...and I have to say it went OK.  Declan forgot to hold it down so I was sitting in front of him and I got a dousing and Colin stood up and peed on me.  Minor malfunctions but until they can get their little things under control we all know it is going to happen.

The juice was all finished and then I got out orange juice and everyone was excited.  I was sure there was potty to come shortly...surely their tummies were full full of liquid.  Wouldn't you know it that suddenly Finn comes up to me and says, "it hurts..it hurts" as he is tugging on his little thing.  I asked him if he wanted to sit with me and he chose to sit on his potty.  In a minute there was about 3 inches deep of potty in the potty.  No wonder it hurt.  He was just like an adult...just as he started going a smile came on his face, a sigh of relief, a release of the pressure.  Everyone was playing, peeing, playing, peeing and finally after 2 hours of this event I decided it was diaper time.   It became a sort of game.  They each would sit and do a little dribble and then we would do the potty dance.  (I must have sung that song 40 times in a span of 2 hours... you get tired of being so happy for something that you would think would be so easy... Do you know the song?  You hold hands and sing "pee pee on the potty..pee pee on the potty)  I had 6 wet pairs of underwear, my wet pants, 3 potty soaked towels and 3 potty chairs to clean up.  It was only 11am and I was tired.

We will continue to try it over and over again until we are trained but gosh I really do like diapers.
